Los Angeles—November 21, 2006—Structural Concepts, a leader in the design and manufacture of food and floral display cases for the supermarket, foodservice and convenience store markets, has won the 2006 Chief Executive Network (CEN) Innovation Award for Best Sustained Product Innovation.
The award was presented on November 9 at CEN’s annual Innovation Conference, this year in Orlando, Florida, at the Orlando Grand Cyprus Resort. CEN recognized Structural Concepts for its development of breakthrough technologies that have improved the ease and cost of ownership for refrigerated food display cases.
Structural Concepts developed the Breeze™ Slide-out Refrigeration System and added a new feature: an Automatic Condenser Coil Cleaner branded Clean Sweep™. The combination of these two innovations dramatically lowers life-cycle operation, maintenance, repair, and energy costs, and also improves product performance. Innovative technology has catapulted Structural Concepts from a new entrant in the foodservice market four years ago to the number-two manufacturer in the industry today.
Structural Concept’s innovation “gets it,” said Bob Grabill, president and CEO of Chief Executive Network. “The Breeze System eliminates one of the biggest problems faced by industry-leading foodservice operators – keeping their refrigerated equipment up and running.”
Says Jeff Schneider, senior manager at Structural Concepts, “the combination of increasing food safety concerns and energy costs have made it imperative to design robust refrigeration systems that run efficiently with minimal operator maintenance – the display case equivalent of the 100,000-mile tune-up”.
